The City of Dothan Alabama Police Department is sometimes asked to supply Off Duty Police Officers to assist in various situations. The following is a list of requirements:

A copy of your insurance liability waiver to include as per section, 6-5-338, of the Alabama Code of Law: Each employer of an OFF DUTY OFFICER will have in force at least $100,000.00 of liability insurance, which insurance must indemnify for acts the “off duty” peace officer takes within the line and scope of private employment. Insurance must be received or faxed to the off-duty employment supervisor before any work can be scheduled.

Current pay scale is $45.00 per hour, per officer. There is a two-hour minimum.

If alcohol is served or consumed on the premises, a minimum of two officers are required.

Officers are usually paid by the person requesting the security services at the end of the detail. The City of Dothan will not provide invoices as the Officers are acting as independent contractors and funds are not routed through the offices of the payroll clerk.
