The Dothan Police Department has been conducting an ongoing investigation into allegations of an adult male having inappropriate sexual contact with a juvenile under the age of 16. As a result of the investigation, on Thursday February 2, 2023, the Dothan Police Department charged 21 year-old Javanta Jaquan Campbell of Dothan with one count of Production of Child Pornography, two counts of Rape Second Degree, two counts of Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act, and three counts of Sodomy Second Degree. His bond has been set at $330,000.00.
Due to the nature of these crimes and the Alabama Juvenile Privacy laws, no further information will be released.
On Monday, January 30, 2023, the Dothan Police Department began investigating an allegation of inappropriate sexual contact between an adult male and a juvenile under the age of 16. As a result of the investigation, the Dothan Police Department has charged 19 year old Froilan Joel Ramirez-Lopez of Dothan, with one count of Sexual Abuse First Degree and one count of Attempted Sexual Abuse First Degree. He is currently being held with no bond.
Due to the nature of this case and the Alabama Juvenile Privacy laws, no further information will be released about this case.
During the early morning hours of Friday, January 27, 2023, two individuals engaged in a verbal altercation in the yard of a residence in the 100 block of Michigan Drive. During that altercation, Corey Ray Chaney fired a handgun at the victim, grazing him on the neck. The victim sustained minor injury that is non-life threatening. Corey Ray Chaney, 29 years old of Dothan, was charged with one count of Attempted Assault First Degree. His bond was set at $30,000.00.
On Monday, January 2, 2023, at 3:10 AM Dothan Police Officers and Dothan Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a possible suicide at Highland Hills Apartment Complex on South Brannon Stand Road. Officers and Paramedics arrived and began life saving measures on the victim. The victim, 48 year-old Richard Brandon Littlefield, sustained one gunshot wound to the upper torso. The only other person present at the time of the incident, 31 year-old Justin Tyler Marchozzi, is the one who called 911.
After gathering evidence at the crime scene, and gathering information from neighboring witnesses, Marchozzi was charged with one count of Murder with a $1.5 Million Bond, and one count of Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess Pistol with a $15,000.00 Bond. No motive for this incident has been determined at this time. The investigation of this case continues; however, no further arrests are expected at this time.
On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, the Dothan Police Department began investigating a report of child abuse. It was reported a child under the age of 12 had bruises and other unexplained marks in various locations about the body. As a result of the investigation, 41 year-old Donnie Dewayne Carroll, of Dothan, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Child Abuse. He currently has no bond. Due to the nature of this case, along with the Alabama privacy laws concerning juveniles, no further information will be released.
On Thursday, December 15, 2022, at approximately 6:58 P.M., officers responded to the 1300 block of Alexander Drive to the report of a firearm assault in which one person had been shot. When officers arrived on scene, they confirmed there was in fact one victim that had already been transported to Southeast Health by a personal vehicle. Officers arrived at the hospital and discovered the victim suffered from a single gunshot to the upper torso. The victim was in critical condition and was immediately taken to surgery where he succumbed to his injury. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Alfonso Morrissette, of Dothan.
On the night prior, Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at approximately 6:15 P.M., two suspects shot at Morrisette at the same location, but he was not hit. Various residences and vehicles were hit during this incident. It has now been determined 20-year-old Zyshawn Codaun Coker and 19-year-old Keith Shukar Helms, both from Dothan, are the two suspects responsible for shooting at Morrissette on Wednesday night.
Zyshawn Coker has been charged with three counts of Shooting into an Occupied Building, one count of Shooting into an Unoccupied Building, one count of Shooting into an Unoccupied Vehicle and one count of Attempted Murder. These charges are in reference to the incident that occurred Wednesday night.
When located, Helms will be charged with the same charges in reference to the incident that occurred Wednesday night.
Thursday night’s incident in which Morrissette died, is still under investigation. On Tuesday, December 12, 2022, the Dothan Police Department arrested 28-year-old Adam Lee Peterman, of Dothan, and charged him with nine counts of Possession of Child Pornography. This has been an ongoing investigation which began after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children who monitors this type of criminal activity and reports to law enforcement. His bond was set at $135,000.00.
On Thursday, December 8, 2022, at approximately 1:00 P.M., officers responded to Southeast Health Emergency Room where a victim of a firearm assault showed up by personal vehicle for treatment. It was determined the firearm assault occurred in the 600 Block of East Newton Street inside a residence where the victim and several other individuals live together. The victim was involved in a physical altercation with one of the roommates and during that altercation another roommate, 54-year-old Robert Henry Humboles, of Dothan, produced a handgun and fired one round into the upper torso of the victim. The victim’s injury was non-life threatening. Humboles fled the scene and has not been located. Once located, Humboles will be charged with one count of Attempted Murder.
During the investigation, one of the roommates, 41-year-old Darlene Nicole Redd, of Dothan, gave multiple accounts of what took place and provided false information to officers to divert attention away from Humboles as the suspect. Redd was charged with one count of Hindering Prosecution First Degree. Her bond was set at $15,000.00.
On Thursday, December 8, 2022, at approximately 9:07 A.M. officers responded to the 1000 block of Greentree Avenue for a burglary in which the suspect was assaulting the victim inside the residence with an ax. Upon their arrival, they found the victim holding the suspect down waiting for the police to arrive.
The suspect, 59-year-old Timothy Brown of Dothan, arrived at the residence and forced his way inside uninvited. Brown and the victim have had an ongoing dispute between them. Brown was armed with an ax and began assaulting the victim. After being struck with the ax, the victim was able to take the ax away from Brown and began to hold him down. While being held down, Brown pulled a pocketknife and began cutting the victim’s hand. Brown was immediately taken into custody when officers arrived.
The victim was taken to Southeast Health where he was treated for injuries he sustained from being assaulted with the ax and pocketknife. His injuries were not life threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery.
Brown was also taken to Southeast Health to be treated for injuries he sustained from the victim during the altercation. After his release from the hospital, Brown was charged with one count of Burglary First Degree and one count of Attempted Murder. His bond was set at $90,000.00.
On Wednesday, November16, 2022, during the early morning hours, officers with the Dothan Police Department located a wanted felon, Chrisdeon Sanquez Byrd, 24 years old of Dothan. Byrd was wanted for several outstanding warrants related to the Burglary of Money Mizer Pawn and Jewelry on August 12, 2022, in which multiple guns were stolen. Byrd was the last of four suspects to be taken into custody for this crime. He has been evading apprehension since the time of the crime. It was determined Byrd had committed multiple crimes throughout the city while being on the run.
In addition to his outstanding warrants, Byrd has now received the following additional charges:
1 Count of Possession of Burglary Tools
2 Counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Controlled Substance
25 Counts of Theft of Property Second Degree
19 Counts of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle.
Byrd is currently being held in the Houston County Jail with No Bond.
