Search Warrant Yields 2.5 Kilos of Meth

The Dothan Police Department Vice Unit has executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of E. Selma Street, bringing an extensive investigation into methamphetamine being sold throughout Dothan and Houston County to a close.

A search of the residence yielded approximately two and a half kilos (five and a half pounds) of methamphetamine, with a street value of $200,000.00. Also recovered was a small amount of synthetic marijuana, paraphernalia used for drug trade, and a handgun.

Investigators have arrested and charged 28 year old Jordan Skylar Thompson, of the 1500 block of Galaxie Drive, with Drug Trafficking (Methamphetamine), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Synthetic Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Bond will be set later this morning.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Federal Fugitive Arrested in Dothan

On July 11, 2019 The Dothan Police Department Vice Unit and the United States Marshals located and arrested 33 year Jimmy Lamar Berry of Monroe Street in Dothan. Berry was wanted by the US Marshals for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and three counts of Possession (of illegal narcotics) with Intent to Distribute.

After Berry was taken into custody for the Federal Indictments. Vice Investigators executed a search warrant at his residence. During the course of the search, Investigators located and recovered cocaine, marijuana, THC vape oil, currency, and a stolen firearm.

Jimmy Lamar Berry has been additionally charged with Drug Trafficking (cocaine), Possession of Marijuana 1st degree, Possession of a Pistol by a Violent Offender, Receiving Stolen Property 4th degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Berry was booked into the Dothan City Jail and has $1.537 million in bonds with multiple Federal and State charges pending.

Berry’s arrest concludes months of investigative work into his lawless lifestyle.

Parents Charged with Manslaughter in Death of Two Year Old

On June 28, 2019 at approximately 7:30 P.M Dothan Police responded to a report of a two year old child inside of a vehicle not breathing. The officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Lace Dr. in Dothan. The child, Castiel King,  was rushed to SouthEast Health where he was pronounced deceased.

An investigation into the circumstances of the death revealed that the child was left unattended by the parents and exited the home and entered the vehicle on his own. Both parents were asleep in the home and under the influence of intoxicants.

As a result of the investigation Robert Patrick King (36) and Melinda Gail King (38) were both charged with one count of Manslaughter each and both have a $30,000.00 bond. Robert and Melinda were also both charged with one count of Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree and each have a $15,000.00 bond for that charge.

All parties are innocent until proven guilty.

Arrest Made In Ongoing Drug Investigation

On Friday June 28, 2019 Task Force Investigators with the DEA and Dothan Police Department Vice arrested 36 year old Renard Sinclair Orr, 6200 block of Walden Road Kinsey.

Investigators, tracking the sale of heroin in and around Dothan and had been investigating this particular individual for approximately 30 days. Contact was made with Orr in the 6200 block of Walden Road at his residence. Orr was found to be in possession of approximately three grams of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Orr was taken into custody without incident.

Renard Orr was booked into the Dothan City Jail for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.

Baby Born After Mother Was Shot Dies In Florida Hospital

On May 25, 2019, four individuals attempted to rob Shawn Callins while he was inside his residence located at 416 Florida Avenue. When Callins resisted, the suspects shot and killed him.  A female victim who was six and a half months pregnant, was shot twice during the invasion.  She suffered severe blood loss and was transported to a Pensacola, Florida Hospital.  Due to the distress on the unborn baby, the baby was taken by emergency C-section and was placed on life support.

Tragically, the baby boy died early this morning. As a result of his death, the four suspects that were previously charged with the murder of Shawn Callins and the attempted murder of the female victim, will now be charged with the murder of the child.  The four suspects are:  18 year old Willie Blackmon of Dothan, 18 year old Kaleb Tubbs of Dothan, 17 year old Carlos Lindsey of Opp and 21 year old David Key of Abbeville.  All suspects remain in the Houston County Jail without bond.

Mother of Suspect Arrested in Naomi Drive Murder

On June 11, 2019 Dothan Police arrested 39-year-old Tiffany Robbin Rowell and charged her with Conspiracy to Commit Murder. A bond has not been set in this case.

Rowell has been charged for her involvement in the murder of Akheem Benjamin Hall (23) of Naomi Drive on Sunday June 9, 2019. Rowell was involved in an altercation with the victim earlier the same day. She played a roll in her son, Tayshawn Malik Stevenson, coming to Naomi Drive and shooting Hall.

Third Suspect Arrested in Florida Avenue Murder

On Tuesday May 29, 2019 Dothan Police Investigators located the final suspect wanted in the Florida Ave. Murder. Carlos Lindsey was located in Enterprise Alabama and taken into Custody.

Once interviews were completed Lindsey was charged with Capital Murder and Attempted Murder. No Bond has been set.

Update on Florida Avenue Murder

On May 25, 2019 at approximately 1:50 P.M. Dothan Police responded to a firearm assault at 416 Florida Ave. Apt #1. On secene they found Shawn Bernard Callins and Kenisha Lashea Lee shot multiple times each.

It was determined that the suspects entered the apartment forcing their way in the front door in an attempt to commit a robbery. Once inside they began shooting at the victims, striking each one multiple times. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.

Rescue responded and transported both Mr. Callins and Ms. Lee to Southeast Health Emergency Room where Mr. Callins succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Ms. Lee was shot in both legs and femur, shattering her femur. Ms. Lee was Air Lifted to a Florida Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Ms. Lee was 6 ½ -months pregnant. Once arriving in Florida Ms. Lee had to have an emergency C-Section and delivered the baby. The baby is in NICU in critical condition, and Ms. Lee is in ICU in Critical condition with a Rod and Guide in her Femur.

During the investigation two of the suspects were identified as B/M Willie Gerome Blackmon and B/M Kaleb Tyreak Tubbs both 18 years of age, and both of Dothan.

Both Blackmon and Tubbs were later apprehended and through the investigation both suspects were charged with Capital Murder relating to the Robbery and attempted Murder for shooting Ms. Lee.

Both Blackmon and Tubbs are in custody at the Houston County jail under No Bond.

Arrest Made in Recent Vehicle Break-ins

On May 13th and 14th Dothan Police received reports of fifteen vehicle break-ins on the east side of Dothan. The reports were from Crossing Ln., Hidden Lake Subdivision, and Brookhill Drive. An investigation began in the crimes and video was released of one of the suspects.

On May 16th the investigator working the case was off duty and made contact with a person he believed to be the suspect in the vehicle break-ins at the Walker’s Deluxe Motel in the 3200 block of E. Main Street. The suspect was identified as 21 year old Nhayquan Travone Bethel of Dothan. He was in the company of 23 year old Shantoria Lashaey Owens, also of Dothan.

Based on information gathered during the investigation Investigators conducted a search warrant of the room and vehicle belonging to the two suspects and recovered property taken from the recent break-ins. The property recovered included several firearms, purses, and wallets belonging to the victims.

Nhayquan Travone Bethel has been charged with fourteen counts of Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and has bonds totaling $210,000.00. Shantoria Lashaey Owens has also been charged with fourteen counts of Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and also has bonds totaling $210,000.00. This investigation is ongoing and more charges may be forthcoming.

Dothan Narcotics Officers and DEA make Meth Bust

On 05/14/2019 Dothan Police Narcotics Officers and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Agents made contact with Jackie Lee King, in the 11000 block of East State Highway 52, Columbia, Alabama. During contact, King was found in possession of approximately 4 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $20,000.00. King was placed under arrest for Drug Trafficking and taken to the Dothan City Jail. King’s bond was set at $500,000.00. This arrest concludes a lengthy investigation into the methamphetamine drug trade in Dothan and the surrounding areas.
