House Fire Determined to be Arson

On Monday, 9/19/2022, Dothan Fire Department and Dothan Police Department responded to a house fire in the 1100 block of Sumter Street in Dothan. Dothan Fire Department extinguished the blaze and determined the cause of the fire was a result of arson. Two individuals had been seen running from the residence moments before the fire. Those individuals were located and identified as juveniles. Both were charged with Arson Second Degree.

Motorcycle Traffic Fatality

On September 19, 2022, Dothan Police Traffic investigators were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash in the 300 block of Ross Clark Circle. The crash, which involved the driver of a motorcycle and a pickup truck, resulted in the death of the driver of the motorcycle, Blade Corley of Cottonwood.

Man Receives Non-Life Threatening Injury from Gunshot

On Sunday, September 11, 2022, officers responded to the 700 block of North Alice Street for a firearm assault involving one victim. A 19 year old male received one gunshot to each upper leg. He was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. This is an ongoing investigation in which at least one suspect is expected to be identified.

Dothan Man Found Murdered

At approximately 3:20 AM on 9/4/2022, Dothan Fire and Rescue along with Dothan Police Department responded to a residence in the 600 block of Mauldin Road for a medical emergency. It was determined the victim, 48 year old Robert Blount, was deceased as a result of being murdered.  Multiple persons have been interviewed to attempt to gain information related to this incident.

Strong Arm Robbery at Dothan Pavilion

Update: The suspects were successfully identified and charges filed.

On 09/03/2022 at approximately 7:15 p.m. patrol officers were dispatched to the Dothan Pavilion Shopping Center, in the area of AMC Theaters, in reference to a disturbance involving multiple juveniles. Upon arrival, it was determined that a juvenile had been physically assaulted by a group of additional juveniles and had a piece of jewelry stolen during the assault.

This incident occurred in the parking lot and did not involve any of the businesses.

Rescue was called to the scene and the victim was treated for minor physical injuries.

Multiple Firearms Stolen from Local Business

During the late night hours of 8/12/2022, several suspects broke into a business in the 3000 block of South Oates Street in Dothan. Once inside, the suspects stole multiple firearms from the business.  Suspects used a vehicle to ram their way inside the business causing several thousands of dollars worth of damage to the structure.

The Dothan Police Department is asking the public for their assistance in this incident. Missing Person

On Sunday, 6/12/2022, 61 year old Wesley Paul Hodge walked away from his home on Parish Street in Dothan, AL.  He has not been seen or heard from since then. When he left he was wearing a black and blue shirt, black shorts and gray tennis shoes.  He is described at 5’9″, 160 lbs., gray hair and blue eyes.

He does have medical issues and he does not have any medication with him. If you see him or have any information as to where he may be, you are asked to call the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000 or your nearest law enforcement agency.

Dothan Man Charged With Capital Murder

On June 14, 2022 Dothan Police Officers and Investigators responded to a Firearm Assault in the 900 block of North Bell Street. Upon arrival officers found the victim, identified as William Henry Roberson Jr laying in the street and began rendering emergency medical aid. Roberson was transported by ambulance, and later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
It was determined that family members got into an argument over property, which ended with the victim being shot. After investigation the suspect, Tobias Marsh has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder.

Dothan Man Murdered

Early Sunday morning, 5-22-2022, a Dothan man was murdered while outside a downtown café in the 200 block of East Powell Street. The victim has been identified as 21 year-old Jacques Adarius McLeod-Roberts, of Dothan. McLeod-Roberts was outside the business when an unknown person walked up and shot him one time. McLeod-Roberts was pronounced deceased at the scene. No motive and no suspect are known at this time. This incident did not involve the business he was at; it only occurred in front of the business on the sidewalk. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

CAPTURED: Authorities Are Searching For Two Con Artists

CAPTURED:  Thanks to an observant citizen in Palm Bay, Florida who spotted these two individuals, the truck and the camper in a Walmart parking lot.  The citizen called the local police and the pair were taken into custody.  Once again, help from the community has made it possible for two criminals to be taken off the street.  The pair now face charges in Palm Bay, Florida as well as multiple other states.  

On May 18, 2022, Criminal Investigators with the Dothan Police Department signed felony warrants for two con artists traveling through our area.  On May 10, 2022, Joshua William Matheny and Mary Jane Matheny were traveling in a dually pick-up truck pulling a fifth-wheel camper.  The pair stopped at the Marathon Station in the 2400 block of Reeves Street and purchased $578.00 worth of fuel.  They provided the clerk with a fraudulent credit card prior to pumping the fuel then left, leaving behind the fraudulent card.  Through the course of the investigation, it has been discovered the pair have conducted similar activities in the surrounding area, as well as other states.  Both are wanted for various felony crimes in multiple states.  They were last known to be traveling in the dually pick-up truck pictured below, pulling the fifth-wheel camper pictured also.  It has been confirmed the dually pick-up truck is stolen.
