Dothan Man Arrested for Sex Crimes

On 12/19/2023, Dothan Police Special Investigations Unit arrested Joshua Kelly Jackson (34) of Dothan for one count of Rape Second Degree and one count of Sexual Abuse Second Degree.  As the investigation progressed it was determined that additional charges were warranted.  Jackson was charged with committing four (4) counts of Incest and one (1) count of Production of Pornography with a minor.  Jackson has been booked into the Houston County Jail with no bond.

Due to the sensitive nature of this case, no other details will be released.

Dothan Man Charged with Escape After Arrest by Police

On January 26, 2024, patrol officers made contact with Jaquan Coring in the 200 block of West Main Street.  After a warrant check was performed, it was discovered that Coring had an outstanding felony warrant with a neighboring agency.  Coring was handcuffed and told he was under arrest.  After being handcuffed, Coring ran away, still handcuffed behind his back, trying to escape the scene.  After a short foot pursuit, Coring was recaptured by officers.  In addition to his felony warrant, Coring was charged with Escape 3rd degree and placed in the Houston County Jail.

Dothan Man Charged with 2020 Murder

On October 1, 2021, the Dothan Police Department responded to a firearm assault in the 700 block of Monroe Street. The victim, 22-year-old Imari Glanton, was deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Since that night, investigators have diligently worked to bring the person responsible for Glanton’s death to justice. On January 23, 2024, investigators charged Ty’Shauwn Markise Bryant, 24 years old of Dothan, with the murder of Glanton. Bryant was already being held in the Houston County Jail after being charged with the murder of Christina Moore that occurred on September 6, 2020, on S. Lena Street in Dothan. Bryant went on the run after Moore’s murder until he was captured by the U.S. Marshals on November 30, 2021, in Newnan, GA. Bryant is still awaiting trial for Moore’s 2020 murder.

The purpose of the public portal is to receive comments regarding an agency’s compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, deliver of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide the participating agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.

IMPORTANT: CALEA is not an investigatory body and subsequently the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purpose. Additionally, the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenents of CALEA Accreditation.

Additional Arrest for Christmas Eve Robbery

On Sunday, December 24, 2023, 20-year-old Freddie Allen Gilchrist Jr. of Dothan, along with two other suspects, 20-year-old Ty’Darian Dy’shon Jackson, and 20-year-old Detavian Tyqwan Durr of Dothan entered CVS Pharmacy in the 1900 block of E. Main Street. These individuals attempted an electronic transaction with the business which was unsuccessful. After the unsuccessful transaction at least one of the individuals demanded the employee give them money from the register. After being denied by the employee, the trio exited the business without incident. Jackson’s identity was learned by investigators, and he was subsequently arrested on December 27, 2023, and charged with one count of Robbery First Degree.

On January 17, 2024, Freddie Allen Gilchrist Jr. was charged with one count of Robbery First Degree for the incident at CVS.

Detavian Tyqwan Durr is wanted for one count of Robbery First Degree for the CVS incident. Durr is also wanted for one count of Assault Second Degree for an unrelated incident. Anyone with information of his whereabouts is asked to call the Dothan Police at 615-3000.

 

 

Woman Charged with Making False Report to Law Enforcement

On January 9, 2024, Kelley Ginibera called the Dothan Police Department 911 center and reported a burglary in progress at her residence in the 100 block of Johnson Circle. When officers arrived, it was determined there was no burglary in progress and Ginibera had reported that in order to get officers to respond to her residence quicker due to her being scared of the bad weather.

Florida Man Charged with Human Trafficking

On January 16, 2024, officers responded to a complaint of possible prostitution at a local motel in Dothan. When they arrived and began their investigation, it was determined at least one minor female was present with an adult male. It was determined the adult male, Tabasis Walker, 24 years old of Pensecola, FL knowingly recruited, solicited, and promoted the minor female for the purpose of causing her to engage in sexual servitude in exchange for U.S. currency.

Tabasis Dea’sean Walker was charged with one count of Human Trafficking First Degree. He was booked into the Houston County Jail with a $60,000.00 bond.

Two Charged with Assault at a Local Business

On January 16, 2024, Ty’Darian Jackson entered a business in the 2300 block of Murphy Mill Road and approached the employee, pulled an empty glass bottle from his pocket, and assaulted the employee with it. Jackson was accompanied by another suspect, Detavian Durr. One of the suspects commented about using a firearm on the victim. The victim and one of the suspects then exchanged gunfire and during the process an unoccupied vehicle in the business parking lot was struck. This was an isolated incident related to an ongoing disagreement between all individuals involved.

Ty’Darian Dy’Shon Jackson, 20 years old of Dothan, was charged with one count of Shooting into an Unoccupied Vehicle and one count of Attempted Assault First Degree. He is currently being held in the Houston County Jail with no bond.

Also wanted for this incident is 20-year-old Detavian Tyqwan Durr of Dothan. He is wanted on one count of Assault Second Degree. Anyone with information of his whereabouts is asked to call the Dothan Police Department at 615-3000.

Dothan Man Charged with Attempted Murder

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, officers responded to the 600 block of Westmead Street in reference to gunshots being fired in the area. Before officers arrived, it was reported one person had been shot in the abdomen and lower arm and was being transported to the hospital by a personal vehicle. The victim was taken to surgery for his abdomen injury and is expected to make a full recovery. The investigation revealed Matavis Rashad Poke was the person who fired multiple shots at the victim, striking him at least once. It is unknown what the motive was that led to shots being fired.

Ohio Murder Suspect Arrested in Dothan

On Thursday morning, January 4, 2024, members of the Dothan Police Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agancy, and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force conducted an operation which resulted in the apprehension of a fugitive wanted for murder in Ohio. Officers apprehended 38-year-old Clarence Abdul Ellis at a residence on Honeysuckle Road in Dothan. Ellis had an outstanding arrest warrant for murder in Columbus, Ohio. He is being held in the Houston County Jail with no bond until he is extradited to Ohio.
