Murder Warrant Issued for Dothan Man

On February 12th 2017 at approximately 1800 Hours, Officers responded to a report of a person not breathing in the 100 Block of Johnson Circle where they found 30-year-old female Alicia Kelly, dead inside her apartment.

Kelly had ligature marks around her neck and autopsy reports confirmed she died of asphyxia secondary to ligature strangulation.

During the initial investigation, evidence was collected and sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for DNA analysis. Based on the DNA profiles obtained from the evidence, investigative leads were developed identifying 23-year-old male, Quaderius Ramon Robinson, as a suspect.

Robinson is currently in Kilby State Correctional Facility where he is serving time on unrelated charges and awaiting trial for two additional charges of home invasion, which occurred on June 19th 2017, involving sexual assault allegations containing similar elements to the murder of Kelly. Robinson was interviewed by investigators and based on his statement, in addition to the DNA evidence collected from the scene, he has been charged with the murder of Alicia Kelly.

Dothan Man Arrested for Convenience Store Robbery

On December 14th, 2017 at approximately 7:00 p.m. patrol officers responded to an Robbery at the Fast Lane Convenience store in the 2100 block of Denton Road. A black male, with a mask covering his face, entered the business and demanded money from the register.

The suspect alluded to having a weapon on his person, but no weapon was shown. He fled from the business on foot with approximately $100.00 in cash and three packs of cigarettes.

With the use of a canine team, officers were led to LaVista Trailer Park where they were able to locate the suspect from the robbery. Asa Thomas Taylor, 27, of Denton Rd. was arrested and charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree. His bond has been set at $60,000.00.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

 

Robbery and Firearm Assault in Dothan

On December 13, 2017  at approximately 8:30 p.m. Dothan Police responded to a firearm assault in the 1000 block of Summit Street. Officers located the victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

During the investigation it was discovered that the victim was sitting in his car in the 1000 block of E. Lafayette St. when he was approached by two black males wearing hoodies and armed with a handgun. The suspects pointed the weapon at the victim and an altercation ensued. The victim was shot in the leg during the altercation. The suspects then took the victims clothes and cell phone along with $130.00 in cash and fled the scene.

Patrol officers located the vehicle on Montgomery Hwy. and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The vehicle was stopped at the Houston/Dale County line. The suspects then exited the vehicle and fled into a nearby field. A Dothan Police Canine Team was on scene and began tracking the suspects. One suspect was taken into custody without incident and the other suspect was apprehended by the canine and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Jamari Antwan Carlisle, 24, of Ozark AL and Javonte Devon Mark Carson, 19, of Ozark AL were arrested and charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree and one count of Assault 1st Degree. No Bonds have been set at this time.

Community Tips Help Nab Drug Trafficker

On 12/12/2017 after posting that the Dothan Police Department was looking for Leroy Bryant on numerous charges, including drug trafficking, we received numerous tips from concerned citizens who are as dedicated as we are in keeping the community safe and crime free.

From the information received Vice Investigators executed a search warrant in the 2300 block of Denton Road. Leroy Bryant was taken into custody inside the residence and additional evidence was seized that is relevant to the investigation.

Investigators have seized approximately twenty one thousand dollars in U.S. Currency, numerous counterfeit bills, and a street value of approximately forty thousand dollars of narcotics in the course of this investigation.

Investigators have arrested and charged 42 year old Leroy Bryant, of Lanier Street, with Drug Trafficking (Analog), three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a short-barreled shotgun, and thirteen counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st degree. His bonds total $645,000.

We would like to thank everyone that called with information that led to the arrest of Mr. Bryant. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Dothan Man Wanted for Drug Trafficking

On 12/11/2017 Vice Investigators concluded a thirty day investigation into the illegal distribution of narcotics. Vice Investigators along with CID Investigators executed two search warrants simultaneously in the 200 block of Lanier Street and the 1000 block of S. Bell Street.

Investigators recovered and seized approximately $16,000 in U.S. Currency, Manufactured Analog (Synthetic Marijuana), Analog Chemical, Cocaine, Ecstasy, Hydrocodone, and a firearm.

The Dothan Police Department is requesting the assistance of the community in locating 42 year old Leroy Bryant, of Lanier Street. Bryant is wanted for Drug Trafficking (Analog), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Ecstasy), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Hydrocodone), and Possession of a Short-barreled Shotgun.

Stolen Property from SunSouth in Dothan Recovered

On the evening of December 5, 2017 SunSouth (John Deere) in Dothan was the victim of a theft. A large amount of lawn equipment, vehicles, and trailers were taken from the business.

During the investigation Dothan Police Investigators received information on the whereabouts of the property taken from the business. This information led Investigators to Lee County Alabama. Investigators recovered twelve zero turn lawn mowers, three trailers, and a SunSouth service truck that was returned to the business.  The value of the property was estimated at $225,000.00.

Investigators have discovered persons of interest in the thefts, and the investigation is continuing. The Dothan Police Department would like to thank the Opelika Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance and cooperation in the ongoing investigation.

Dothan Police Officer Arrested for “School Employee Engaging in a Sex Act with a Student under the Age of 19 Years”

On December 6th 2017 Dothan Police Investigators became aware of allegations of inappropriate behavior between an School Resource Officer and a student.

An investigation ensued and following interviews, it was determined that Dothan Police Officer Adrian Folmar had an inappropriate relationship with a seventeen year old student. Officer Folmar was arrested and charged with two counts of “School Employee Engaging in a Sex Act with a Student Under the age of 19 Years Old”. The bond was set at $60,000.00.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

 

Narcotics Search Warrant Leads to Arrest

On 12/04/2017 Vice Investigators executed a search warrant in the 500 block of Connelly Street concluding a month long investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics. Narcotics and evidence associated with the distribution of narcotics were recovered and seized from the residence.

Investigators have arrested and charged 38 year old Anthony Artez Williams, of Connelly Street, with Unlawful Possession with Intent to Distribute (methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana 1st degree, and Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd degree.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Arrest for Robbery in Dothan

On December 3, 2017 Dothan Police arrested Daniel Young Dowling IV, 44, of Highway 134 Midland City, Alabama.  Dowling was in the 400 block of Moates St. when he brandished a knife and demanded money from another person.

Dowling escaped with a small amount of cash and was apprehended by patrol officers a short time later. Dowling was charged with Robbery 1st Degree. His bond was set at $60,000.00

All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

Four Arrested in Recent Armed Robberies

On November 20, 2017 Dothan Police responded to an Armed Robbery at the Dollar General Store in the 2800 block of Ross Clark Cir. and an Armed Robbery at the Hobo Pantry in the 700 block of Ross Clark Circle. During both robberies four black males entered the business armed with a handgun and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On November 28, 2017 Dothan Police Investigators arrested Jai’Quavius Gilbert, 17, of Ruth St. Dothan, AL for his involvement in the robberies. Gilbert was charged as an adult with two counts of Robbery 1st Degree and his bond was set at $120,000.00. Another juvenile, 15, was also arrested by investigators for his involvement in the robberies. The second juvenile was under the age of sixteen and could not be charged as an adult.

On November 29, 2017 Dothan Police Investigators arrested Jarvis Stephens, 20, of Glanton St. Dothan, AL for his involvement in the robberies. Stephens was charged with two counts of Robbery 1st Degree. Stephens was also wanted for Escape 1st Degree by Houston County Community Corrections. Stephens bond for the robberies was set at $120,000.00 and he has no bond for the Escape charge.

On November 29, 2017 Investigators also arrested Shakeem Allen, 20, of S. Ussery St. Dothan, AL for his involvement in the robberies. Allen was charged two counts of Robbery 1st Degree and his bond was set at $120,000.00.
