Discharging a Firearm Arrest

On 06/26/2017 Investigators arrested and charged 23 year old Travis Gore, of E. Lafayette Street, with Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Building. Bond has been set at $5,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

DV and Stolen Property Arrest

On 06/25/2017 Investigators arrested and charged 18 year old James Morris Johnson III, of Mustang Drive, with Domestic Violence 3rd degree and Receiving Stolen Property 3rd degree. Morris was found in possession of a stolen firearm following a domestic altercation that occurred on S. College Street. Bond has been set at $16,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a  court of law.

Burglary Arrest

On 06/24/2017 Investigators arrested and charged 31 year old Bryan Anthony Taylor Jr., of Fairfield Drive Huntsville Al, with Burglary 3rd degree. This is in connection with a commercial burglary that occurred in the 4100 block of W. Main Street.

Bond will be set at a later time. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sexual Assault Arrest

On 06/24/2017 Investigators arrested and charged 36 year old Billy Junior Reese, of Duke Street, with Attempted Sexual Abuse 1st degree. Due to the sensitive nature of this case no other details can be released.

Bond will be set at a later time. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

DPD promotes new captain

Capt. Eddie Henderson

During a promotion ceremony in the company of family, friends and colleagues, Chief Parrish promoted Lt. Eddie Henderson to the rank of Police Captain.

Capt. Henderson has been with the department for more than 25 years. He has served in many positions throughout his career including patrol, community relations and was a DARE officer as well. His most recent assignment was as the department’s CALEA Accreditation Manager.

Captain Henderson will serve as commander of the department’s Administrative Services Bureau, which includes the records, animal shelter, technical services, crime analysis and CALEA accreditation functions.

Narcotics Arrest

On 06/21/2017 while investigating a theft case Investigators arrested and charged 28 year old Skyler Ridge Paulk and 21 year old Haley Lynn Pace, both of Montgomery Highway, with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Synthetic Marijuana).

Paulk also had an outstanding warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Pace’s bond has been set at $1,000. Paulk’s bond will be set at a later time. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Forgery Arrest

On 06/21/2017 Investigators arrested and charged 41 year old Edward Lynn Jones Jr., of Southwood Court, with Forgery 2nd degree. Bond has been set at $2,500.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Traffic Fatality Press Release

On June 20th at 11:29 pm, officers were dispatched to a head-on collision involving two vehicles in the 2300 block of Ross Clark Circle.  One of the vehicles, a Jeep Cherokee, was travelling South bound on Ross Clark Circle in the North bound lane.  The second vehicle, a Chrysler 200, was travelling North bound in the North bound lane.  The two vehicles collided causing injury to both drivers.

Both drivers were transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center.  The driver of the Jeep Cherokee succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  This driver has been identified as 89 year old w/m Harmon Beasley of Ashford, Alabama.  The second driver received minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.  There were no other occupants in the vehicles.

The crash is being investigated by the Dothan Police Department Traffic Division.

Receiving Stolen Property Arrest

On 06/19/2017 Investigators arrested and charged 23 year old Andrew Lee Bond, of Taylor Road, with Receiving Stolen Property 3rd degree. Bond has been set at $1,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Counterfeit Arrest

On 06/19/17 Investigators arrested and charged 34 year old Evester Tharp Jr., of May Street, with Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st degree. Bond has been set at $5,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
