On August 4, 2023, the Dothan Police Department began investigating a report of sex crimes against a juvenile. As a result of the investigation, 40-year-old Robert Lee Whitsette Jr. of Slocomb has been charged with four counts of Rape First Degree and other sex crimes which occurred in Dothan. He is currently being held in the Houston County Jail with no bond.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case, no further information will be released.
UPDATE: Suspect, 22 year old Kameron Zamir Head, turned himself in at the Dothan Police Department on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
On Tuesday night, September 12, 2023, at approximately 10:30 PM Dothan Police Officers and Criminal Investigators responded to a murder that occurred near the 2300 block of Denton Road.
Twenty-two year old Zion Brown of Dothan was the driver and only occupant of his vehicle traveling on Denton Road. Brown was struck by one of several bullets that were fired into his vehicle, killing him. His vehicle traveled off the roadway and through a vacant lot before coming to a stop on Murray Road.
Investigators have worked around the clock since the incident occurred. On Thursday, September 14, 2023, investigators obtained one warrant for shooting into an occupied vehicle and one warrant for Capital Murder for 22 year old Kameron Zamir Head of Dothan. We are asking anyone who may know the whereabouts of Head to please call the Dothan Police Department at (334)615-3000. On Tuesday night, September 12, 2023, at approximately 10:30 PM the Dothan Houston County Emergency Operations Center was notified of a single vehicle accident with critical injuries in the area of Denton Road and Murray Road. Officers arrived and discovered the driver and only occupant of the vehicle had sustained a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Zion Brown of Dothan. Brown’s vehicle was traveling on Denton Road when an unknown suspect fired several gunshots into the vehicle, one of which struck Brown. Brown’s vehicle left the roadway and traveled through a vacant lot before coming to a stop on Murray Road.

UPDATE: Thanks to a concerned citizen, the suspect in this case is now in custody in Georgia. He is awaiting extradition to Alabama to face the charge of Capital Murder.
On Saturday, October 9, 2021, the Dothan Police Department responded to a murder in the 200 block of Blissett Drive. The victim was identified as Sincere Tyson, 20 years old of Dothan. Investigators have identified a suspect they believe to be responsible for this murder as 26 year-old Jacoiah Deshawn Harrell of Bainbridge, GA. Harrell is currently wanted for one count of Capital Murder.
The whereabouts of Harrell are unknown at this time, but we are asking the public for assistance in locating him. On Sunday, September 10, 2023, at approximately 1:15 AM, the Dothan Houston County Emergency Operations Center received a call reporting a robbery in progress in the 3300 block of Hartford Highway. Officers arrived and located the victim who stated he and his family arrived home and he was confronted by an unknown suspect who was armed with a handgun and was demanding money. The victim began to run to get away from the suspect. While being chased by the suspect, the victim tripped and fell to the ground. The suspect stood over him demanding all his money while threatening him with the weapon. After the suspect received the victim’s money, the victim retrieved his own weapon from his residence and both victim and suspect exchanged gunfire, but no one was hit. The suspect left in a silver passenger car driven by a second suspect. While the suspect car was leaving, it struck a light pole causing significant damage.
While officers were looking for the suspect vehicle, they located a vehicle matching the description with significant damage and occupied by two individuals in an apartment complex on the south side of town. After completing the investigation, it was determined that was the correct vehicle and suspects when evidence was located linking them to the crime scene. One of the suspects was in possession of a stolen pistol.
One suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile from Dothan, was charged as an adult with one count of Robbery First Degree. His bond was set at $60,000.00. The other suspect, 19-year-old Tyler Deondre Russell, of Dothan, was charged with one count of Robbery First Degree and one count of Receiving Stolen Property Second Degree. His bond was set at $75,000.00.
On Friday, September 8, 2023, at approximately 6:45 PM, officers responded to the 500 block of Chinook Street for an edged weapon assault. Officers arrived and found the victim in the yard of a residence bleeding from lacerations on the face, forearm, and abdomen. Officers learned the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal altercation during which time the suspect used a steak knife and stabbed the victim several times. The suspect, who was identified as 23-year-old Davonta Bryson McCree, had left prior to officers’ arrival. McCree was located moments later walking down the roadway with the steak knife in his possession. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.
McCree was charged with one count of Assault First Degree. His bond was set at $60,000.00.
On Thursday, September 7, 2023, at approximately 6:40 PM, the Dothan-Houston County Emergency Operations Center received a report of a firearm assault at Henry Green Apartments on South Lena Street. Officers arrived and found a juvenile victim, under the age of 16, had sustained a gun shot wound to the lower leg. The victim stated it was an accidental self-inflicted injury. The investigation revealed several juveniles were gathered at the apartment and the victim claimed to have found the weapon laying on the kitchen counter. He stated he picked it up and pulled the trigger, not knowing if the weapon was loaded or not, firing the weapon into his leg.
Who the weapon belonged to or how it got there is unknown. The weapon was not there when officers arrived and was not located. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injury.
On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, officers responded to the 500 block of Mustang Drive for an assault that had taken place. When officers arrived, it was learned the suspect, Amanda Faith Reeves, was involved in a verbal altercation inside the residence. The homeowner attempted to stop the altercation and during the process was assaulted by Reeves.
Another homeowner arrived and shortly thereafter was assaulted by Reeves as well. Reeves then took the homeowner’s vehicle without permission and left the scene. A short time later, Reeves returned the vehicle. During the altercation, Reeves took a walking cane from one of the victims and vandalized the victim’s vehicle with it. Both victims were evaluated by Dothan Fire and Rescue at the residence for a minor injury that each of them received.
Reeves was at the scene when officers arrived but was uncooperative. She was taken into custody without incident. Due to the age of the victims being over 60, Reeves was charged with two counts of Elder Abuse Second Degree. She was also charged with one count of Theft of Property First Degree. Her total bond was set at $150,000.00.
On Monday, September 4, 2023, just after midnight, a business owner in the 700 block of North Range Street was notified of someone on his business property which was closed at the time. The individual went to his business and located the person trespassing on his business property who was later identified as Pierre Parrish. The individual advised Parrish he was not allowed on his property and made him leave. Parrish left from the property but immediately returned. When the property owner attempted to stop Parrish, Parrish pulled an edged weapon from his pocket and struck the property owner, cutting him on the face.
The property owner was taken to a local hospital where he received treatment for his facial injury. His injury did not appear to be life threatening. Parrish was located close by and was taken into custody without incident. Pierre Jay Jabory Parrish, 38 years old of Dothan, was charged with one count of Attempted Murder. His bond was set at $60,000.00.
On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at approximately 3:00 PM, officers responded to a theft call at a local business in the 3000 block of S. Oates Street. The suspect was attempting to leave the business with merchandise in his possession which he did not pay for. As an employee attempted to stop him, he began a physical confrontation with the employee over the merchandise. Officers arrived and were able to take the suspect into custody without further issue.
The suspect, identified as 30 year old William Edward Blizzard of Panama City Beach, FL, was charged with one count of Robbery Third degree and his bond was set at $15,000.00.
