Two Arrested for Elder Abuse of Family Member

On  01/30/2020, the Dothan Police responded to the 900 blk of Mercury Drive, in reference to elder abuse. When officers arrived, they found Annie Newby and Ida Newby, both of Dothan, had physically pulled their mother off an ambulance causing her to not receive treatment for an infection  that she has missed other appointments for.  Both suspects admitted to being care givers to their mother.

Ida Newby (41) and Annie Newby (39) were charged with Elder Abuse 2nd Degree and  they are being held on a $30,000 bond.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

24th Annual K9 Seminar

The Dothan Police Department will be hosting its 24th Annual K9 Seminar. The seminar will be held February 3 through February 7, 2020.  K9 teams are expected to participate from all over the southeast region.  Training will focus on narcotics and explosives detection, patrol apprehension and tracking.  Each media outlet is being afforded the opportunity to come out and observe.  For further information you may contact Lieutenant R. Dothan Police Narcotics Make Arrest for Synthetic Marijuana

On January 22, 2020 Dothan Police Narcotics Division conducting a search warrant in the 1200 block of Andrew Street. During the search warrant officers located approximately 120 grams of synthetic marijuana inside the home. Also located inside the home was another small plastic bag of Marijuana and two handguns. One of the handguns was reported stolen.

Kenneth Bondrull Morrison (38) of Dothan was arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking. He has a $250,000.00 bond. Additional charges could be forthcoming.

Dothan Police Make Drug Trafficking Arrest

On January 19, 2020 Dothan Police Patrol Officers stopped a vehicle in the 3600 block of Reeves St. for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Williams Tyrone Lawton (43) of Elderberry Dr., Dothan.

During the course of the traffic stop a canine was used and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle recovered thirteen pounds of marijuana from the front passenger floorboard.

Lawton was charged with Drug Trafficking and taken to the Dothan City Jail. His bond was placed at $100,000.00.

Officer Bitten by Drug Suspect

On 1/18/20, The Dothan Police conducted a traffic stop in the 300 blk of Blackshear for a traffic violation. Upon further investigation it was determined that the driver was in possession of crack cocaine.  As the officers attempted to place the driver, Kenneth Glasgow,  in custody a struggle ensued as the officers were trying to get Glasgow  handcuffed. In the process of the struggle,  Glasgow attempted to swallow the crack cocaine and an officer put his finger in Glasgow’s mouth in order to retrieve the evidence.  Glasgow then bit down on the officers finger causing an injury.  The evidence was recovered and Glasgow was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Assault 2nd degree.

Glasgow is currently being held on no bond.

Shooter-Kidnapper Arrested

On 1/18/2020, The Dothan Police have arrested Juan Marcus Roberson (28) for the shooting of one victim and kidnapping the second.  Roberson was arrested Saturday night after he fled the shooting in the 100 blk of woods Drive. Roberson grabbed the kidnapping victim, Tanesha McLeod  and pushed her in the car and assaulted her all the way to Montgomery.  Once in Montgomery, Roberson stopped for gas and Miss McLeod was able to gain control over the vehicle and fled to another gas station in Montgomery.

The Montgomery Police Department responded and got into a foot pursuit of Roberson and  he was able to evade capture initially but was later captured by the Montgomery Police with the help of helicopters and police K-9s.

Roberson is being charged with Attempted Murder, Kidnapping 1st degree, Robbery 1st degree and Sodomy 1st degree, and is being held with no bond.

The shooting victim received a single gunshot wound to the chest and made it through surgery and he is listed in stable condition.

The Dothan Police Department would like to thank the Montgomery Police Department, The Troy Police Department, The Dale County Sheriff’s Office Air Unit and the US Marshals for their assistance in bringing this case to closure without further victims.

Firearm Assault -Update Victim Found

Update: The kidnapping victim, Tanesha McLeod, has been located in Montgomery.  McLeod  has suffered a cut to the head and other minor injuries but she is ok.  The suspect is on the run in Montgomery and Montgomery PD is currently in a man-hunt around Taylor Rd and US 231.  More to follow.

The Dothan Police responded to the 100 blk of Woods Drive in reference to a gunshot victim. Once officers arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound to the chest and in critical condition. Further investigation reveled that the suspect kicked the door in and shot the victim and kidnapped the victim’s girlfriend.  The suspect then fled the scene on a black KIA Rio with Alabama tag number 38HL126.

We are asking for the public’s assistance with help locating these persons or vehicle. If they are seen, call 911 and advise the location. Do not approach, the suspect is considered  armed and dangerous. If you have any other information on this call,  please contact the non-emergency number at 615-3000.

 

Woodham Road Murder Arrest Made

Investigators have arrested and charged 49 year old Marcus Hubbard, of Douglasville Georgia, with one count of Murder. This stems from the October 24, 2019 murder of 38 year old Rodney Caliste on Woodham Road. Hubbard was taken into custody leaving his residence in Douglasville Georgia. Investigators have spent most of this week working with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Investigators are still conducting search warrants in the Douglasville area. Hubbard will be transported to the Douglas County Jail where he will face narcotics charges related to the search warrants there.

 

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrest related to this case are possible. The Dothan Police Department would like to thank the Douglas County Sheriff Tim Pounds, Douglas County CID, and the Douglas County Swat team for their assistance in this case.

Police Make Arrest for Powell Street Murder

The Dothan Police  Department  has arrested Joseph Hall (34) of Dothan, for the murder of Andrew Jones that occurred in January of 2019. Police investigators have been working this murder tirelessly since January of last year.   Mr. Hall has been  in the investigator’s sights since the murder but they have not been able to crack the case.  Through the course of the investigation,  a big break occurred and allowed the pieces needed to get the arrest warrant and charge Mr. Hall.  Because of his past and information received, The Dothan Police were assisted by The US Marshals with searching two houses in the 800 blk of Linden.

Early this morning, the Dothan Special Response Team (SRT) and the US Marshals simultaneously hit two separate houses on Linden Street. Dothan SRT used multiple flash-bang grenades to clear the residence. Once inside the residence, multiple fire arms were recovered and several different types of narcotics. Crack-cocaine, marijuana, heroin and ecstasy pills. The US Marshals hit the other residence where Joseph Hall was asleep on the bed but was awoke by the US Marshals and taken into custody without incident.

There will be more charges that follow.

Mr. Hall is being held on no bond.

Robbery in Dothan Suspects Apprehended

The Dothan Police Department responded to the 1700 Montgomery Hwy,  in reference to an armed robbery in progress. Once officers arrived, they engaged in a foot pursuit and with the help of some bystanders two suspects were apprehended.

The Dothan Police Department have arrested Chance Wilson (21) of Summersville SC , and Chad Pinckney (18)  of Charleston, SC  and charged  both suspects with Robbery 1st Degree.

Both suspects are being held on no bond.
