Arrest Made in Hit and Run with Injuries

On January 6, 2022, Dothan Police Traffic investigators were dispatched to a hit and run accident at the intersection of West Main Street and Moates Street. The two victims were treated at the scene for injuries and a juvenile was transported to the hospital for serious injuries and is currently in stable condition. The suspect fled the scene occupying a white Chevrolet Tahoe.

The suspect, Christian Wade Haney (24) of Ashford, Alabama was identified through strong community help and coordination with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 10, 2022, Haney was arrested for Felony Leaving the scene of an Accident and was transported to the Houston County Jail.

DPD Investigators Charge Suspect in October Murder

On October 9, 2021, Dothan Police Investigators began a murder investigation into the death of Sincere Tyson that occurred on Blissett Drive.  Investigators found that Tyson had suffered from at least one gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.  Investigators have been working tirelessly on this case since the date it occurred.  On December 8, 2021, Investigators finally have enough evidence to announce charges on one individual involved in the crime.

Early in the investigation, Investigators identified the suspect, Solomon Cooper of Climax, GA, as a person of interest in this case.  After many search warrants and subpoenas issued for various items, Investigators found enough evidence that implicates Cooper in the murder.  Warrants were obtained for Cooper’s arrest and he currently incarcerated on unrelated charges in Georgia.  Once those charges are addressed in Georgia, Cooper will be extradited to Dothan to face charges in this case.

Solomon Terrell Cooper (19) of Climax, GA is charged with one count of Capital Murder-Burglary.  Once he is extradited to Alabama, Cooper will be held without bond.  More charges are expected at a later date.

Capital Murder Suspect Arrested in Georgia for Warrant in Alabama

On October 28, 2021, Dothan Police Investigators obtained two warrants for the arrest of Ty’Shauwn Markise Bryant related to the murder of Christina Moore that occurred in September 2020.  Investigators, with the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Service Gulf Coast Regional Violent Fugitive Task Force, have been following leads on the location of Bryant.

On November 30, 2021, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force received information on a location for Bryant in Georgia.  Bryant was located in Newnan, GA by the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force and taken into custody without incident.  Bryant will be extradited back to Dothan to face charges of Capital Murder and Shooting into Occupied Residence.  When Bryant returns to Alabama, he will be held in the Houston County Jail with no bond.

Third Man Wanted in September 2020 Murder

On September 6, 2020, Dothan Police Investigators began an investigation into the death of Christina Moore in the 700 block of South Lena Street.  Although two suspects have already been charged in the case, Investigators continued their investigation into the details surrounding Moore’s murder.

On October 28, 2021, the investigation revealed a third suspect connected to Moore’s murder.  The third suspect was identified as Ty’Shauwn Markise Bryant.  The investigation led to warrants being obtained for Bryant.  The Dothan Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Bryant.  Bryant should be considered armed and dangerous.  If you see Bryant, do not approach and contact the Dothan Police Department or your local authorities.

Ashford Man Arrested in Monday Robbery Spree

On October 25, 2021 at about 3:24 pm, Dothan Police Officers responded to a local restaurant in the 1800 block of East Main Street for a suspicious circumstance call.  The officers, once on scene, determined the call to be an armed robbery of a business.  The suspect was described as a white male wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and in possession of a black handgun.  The suspect left the area in a black passenger car, possibly a Chevrolet Monte Carlo.  No money was taken.

A short time later at 4:08 pm, the Dothan Communications Center received a call of an attempted break-in of a motor vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-mart northside.  The suspect was described as a white male wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and occupying a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo.  The suspect was last seen leaving the Wal-mart parking lot. No property was reported missing.

At 4:46 pm, Dothan Police Officers were dispatched to a local liquor store in the 2700 block of Ross Clark Circle for another armed robbery of a business.  The suspect was described as a white male wearing a blue hoodie, khaki cargo shorts, and leaving the scene in a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo south on Ross Clark Circle towards Hartford Highway.

About ten minutes after the robbery of the liquor store, an alert patrol officer noticed a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the parking lot of a strip mall in the 3300 block of South Oates Street with a white male in a blue hoodie going from the Monte Carlo to another vehicle.  The officer detained the subject for investigation.  It was determined that the subject, Aaron Casey Hurtado (25) of Ashford, AL, had been involved in all three crimes.  After obtaining a search warrant for both vehicles, Investigators found a green shirt, black handgun, blue jeans, and liquor bottle in the vehicles that tied Hurtado to all three crimes.

Aaron Casey Hurtado has been arrested and charged with two counts of Robbery 1st degree and one count of Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle.  Hurtado is being held without bond on these charges with more charges expected.  The Dothan Police Department will vigorously pursue and arrest those responsible for violent crimes in the City of Dothan.

Dothan Man Killed in Friday Night Shooting

On October 1st, 2021, Dothan Police Officers responded to the 700 block of Monroe Street for reports of a victim being shot.  Upon arrival, Officers located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim, identified as Imari Tyquan Glanton (22), was pronounced dead on the scene.  The investigation is ongoing.  If anyone has any information about this case, they are encouraged to contact the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3632 or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 334-793-7000.  The Dothan Police Department is committed to protecting the identities of witnesses and victims.

Overnight Shooting in Dothan kills Ozark Man

On September 27, 2021, the Dothan Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 400 block of West Inez Road in reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival, Dothan Patrol Officers and Dothan Fire Medics began life saving treatment on the victim who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The victim has been identified as Dantrell Kelly Lindor (23) of Ozark, AL.

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

On September 21, 2021 Dothan Police performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Reeves St. and Grey Hodges Road. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 32 year old Travis Welks Miller of Box Springs, Georgia. There was also a female passenger in the vehicle, Kimberly Garrett of Anniston, Alabama.

During the course of the traffic stop approximately 4.5 pounds of methamphetamine was discovered inside the vehicle.

Travis Welks Miller was charged with one count of Drug Trafficking. His bond was set at $100,000.00

Kimberly Garret was charged with one count of Drug Trafficking. Her bond was set at $100,000.00.

Dothan Police Make Large Drug Arrest

On September 23, 2021 officers with the Dothan Police Department came into contact with a white female and a white male at a local motel. They were identified as 39 year old April Sangster and 49 year old Freddie Cooley, both of Moultrie Georgia. During the course of an investigation they were found to be in possession of narcotics.

Investigators served a search warrant at the motel room and discovered nine pounds of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

April Sangster was charged with Drug Trafficking, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She has bonds totaling $758,100.00.

Freddie Cooley was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute. His bond was set at $7,500.00.

 

 

GA Man Arrested for Attempted Murder and Robbery

On September 14, 2021, Dothan Police Officers responded to a gas station in the 1100 block of Ross Clark Circle for reports of a man with a firearm.  Before officers arrived on scene, reports were updated that shots had been fired and a vehicle had been stolen from the scene.  Investigators arrived on scene to begin the investigation.  According to victims and witnesses, the suspect, Steven Smalley (48) of Alto, GA, approached the victim, armed with a handgun, and demanding the victim’s vehicle.  When the victim refused, Smalley fired one round towards the victim but did not strike him.  Smalley was able to obtain the vehicle keys from the victim and drove off with the vehicle.

A BOLO was issued for the vehicle as investigators worked the crime scene.  Shortly after the BOLO was issued, Smalley was located on Ross Clark Circle driving towards the crime scene.  Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and took Smalley into custody.

Steven John Smalley (48) of Alto, GA was charged with one count of Attempted Murder and one count of Robbery 1st degree and is being held without bail.
