Armed Robbery of Business in Dothan

On 01/13/2018 Dothan Police responded to an Armed Robbery at the Dollar General in the 1000 block of Montgomery Highway.

Employees reported that three black males entered the business with their faces covered and armed with handguns.  The suspects made their way behind the counter and demanded money from the employee, then fled on foot from the business with an undetermined amount of cash.

The three suspects were described as wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a red cross on the shoulder and bluejeans that were torn on the right side, a white belt and red shoes. Another suspect was described as being approximately six foot tall and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and long pants. The third suspect was described as wearing a beige pullover with a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark shoes.

Community Help Needed to Locate Shooting Suspect

On January 10, 2018, patrol officers responded to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim who arrived by personal vehicle. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries. It was determined the incident occurred in the 800 block of Pryor Street. Investigators responded to the scene and began an investigation.

James Mario Cherry IV, 24 years of age, has been identified as a suspect in the incident. Warrants have been obtained for Attempted Assault 1st and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle. Cherry is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Cherry’s whereabouts please contact the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000 or Crimestoppers 334-793-7000.

Dothan Police Make Arrest for Impersonating a Police Officer

On January 4th 2018 Dothan Police responded to the 2800 block of Fortner St. to a medical emergency. While on the scene 37 year old Scotty Earl Lingo identified himself to officers and emergency personnel as an auxiliary police officer from Headland Alabama. Lingo was in possession of a Headland Police Department Auxiliary Identification Card.

Further investigation revealed that Lingo was in possession of a handgun for which he was using the police identification as his permit. Officers confirmed through the Headland Police Department that Lingo has not been an auxiliary officer with their department since January 2015.

Lingo was arrested on scene for a Domestic Violence warrant with the City of Dothan and Impersonating a Police Officer. His bond was set at $15,000.00.

Edged Weapon Assault

Last night at approximately 8:25 p.m. Patrol Officers were dispatched to an edged weapon assault in the 100 block of Newberry Lane. Two subjects were transported to a local hospital one suffering from multiple stab wounds and the other suffering from a head injury. Both subjects were treated for serious injuries.

Investigators and Crime Scene Technicians processed the scene. It has been determined that no other individuals are involved in this assault. The investigation is ongoing and Investigators are working on determining what occurred.

Theft Arrest

On 06/15/2017 Investigators arrested and charged 42 year old Marcus Charles Strickland, of Robin Parker Road Ozark, with Theft of Property 3rd degree. This is in connection with a theft from a business in the 4800 block of Montgomery Highway. Bond has been set at $1,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
