The Dothan Police Department is on the scene of a crash involving moderate injuries in the 2300 block of South Oates Street.
Two vehicles were involved in a crash during which a van occupied by 11 juveniles overturned.
Parents and guardians of all children involved have now been notified and have arrived on scene. Four juveniles have been transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
A preliminary investigation has revealed the van was being driven by an unlicensed juvenile, age 14, at the time of the crash.
Members of the crash team, patrol and juvenile division are on scene to further investigate in accordance with our policies and will work closely together. Further charges may be pending.
We would like to remind our citizens to observe all aspects of the law regarding seat belts, passenger occupancy, and requirements of drivers on Alabama roadways.
We would like to thank the Dothan Fire Department for top-notch services on this call. While police communicated with parents and began the preliminary investigation DFD triaged and treated 13 patients. We are thankful for the dynamic partnership, training and practice public safety demonstrates as one to work through situations such as this.
